George Coll, well known Colorado artist, will do a three-day oil painting workshop in El Paso at the Crossland Gallery, 500 West Paisano, emphasizing foundation and easy completion of landscapes. He provides the references and does the paintings along with the students, step by step. This workshop is not for the faint of heart. It is fast paced to help eliminate the “dead brain doubting as to what to do next syndrome”. Paint what you see and eliminate unnecessary detail. This requires smaller paintings (size 11x14) to provide completion in one session. The goal is two paintings per day, and yes he will complete the same paintings for your reference. He will help each student at his or her easel along the way. Only THREE spaces are left. As an added bonus (not required) he will do a portrait on Saturday night after class if he can find a student to sit. The sitter will receive the portrait in payment for sitting.

Dates: January 20, 21 and 22. Friday and Saturday 9:30am to 5:00pm. Sunday, 10:00am to 4:00pm. Cost: $399.00. To secure a spot a $75 deposit is required by January 8th. Holly Cox will be giving a two day water media - mostly acrylic - workshop, Friday and Saturday, February 24-25 at the Crossland Gallery. Her workshop is titled Off the Beaten Path - “Break through old rules and gain freedom and spontaniety and give yourself permission to be different.” It will run 9am-Noon and 1-3pm both days.
