5 EASY STEPS TO GET READY FOR YOUR NEW WEB SITE
The first step is to pay Joyce Ewald, EPAA Office
Manager for your site. You can contact her at 915.534.7377 or by
email at:
office@elpasoartassociation.com. She will notify the
webmaster that you are paid in full.
Step two is to take, or have
taken, photos of your work. The resolution of your photos should be
no more than 96dpi and in JPEG format. The photos don't need to be high resolution as
96dpi is the maximum resolution any monitor can display, so save the
high resolution photos for printing, not your web site. This means
you can use any digital camera to take the photos (even an old
one!). It is OK if you send higher resolution photos, but they will
be converted to 96dpi before posting them to the web site.
Step three is to get your photos
to the EPAA webmaster. You can put everything on a CD if you wish
and mail it, OR the preferred method would be to email the photos
and your artist information to
webmaster@elpasoartassociation.com as attachments. As long as the
attachment is not larger than 10MB, it should go through just fine.
You can send photos attached to multiple email messages if you need
to. You may include titles, medium, size, and/or price information
for each of the photos you send. If you send a list of that
information, it will be added to your site. Just be sure you include
some way to know which photo goes with which information.
Step four is to determine how you
want your site listed. Choose either a domain or sub-domain.
If you choose a domain name, it
can only be registered IF no one else world wide has already
registered that name, so be prepared with at least one alternate.
This is the standard www.YOUR-CHOICE-OF-NAME.com website.
If you choose a sub-domain, you
can have any name you choose if it is not already in use by another
EPAA member. You do not use WWW for this web site because
it is a sub-domain of the El Paso Art Association site. So you would
use http://YOUR-CHOICE-OF-NAME.elpasoartassociation.com and NOT
www.YOUR-CHOICE-OF-NAME.elpasoartassociation.com. If you use the www then you
receive an error message that the page cannot be found. If you use
HTTP:// you will get to your page.
In both cases, you need to decide how you want YOUR-CHOICE-OF-NAME to be listed. You cannot use spaces, commas or underscores.
You can use hyphens.
Step five is to determine which
layout you want, the background color, a preferred font and the text
color you want for your site and let the webmaster know. Templates
for your site are located above.
