The UVAs are a group of Art Educators made up of practicing and retired female teachers from El Paso and the surrounding areas. Members are given a month to create a work of art based on a theme. They then meet and “swap” their work. Their vision is to provide support to new and seasoned art teachers, promote art within themselves and in the community and to provide professional development so they may become better artists and art educators. Their true devotion is in providing their young art students the best possible art education and provide a connection with their art community. As Art Educators, they want do more than teach art. They want to continue to be artists.

COLORS OF SPRING Show and Sale 2010

The El Paso Art Association’s “Colors of Spring” Art Show & Sale will be held March 2-30 at the Sunland Art Gallery. The opening reception and awards ceremony will be Friday, March 5, 5:30-8:00 pm. The show will feature both new and established artists who are members of the EPAA. The show was judged by Las Cruces artist Wayne Carl Huber. The general public is invited to visit the art show and purchase original works of art.

Sunland Art Gallery is located at Sunland Park Mall.
Hours: Mon.-Sat. 10-8 and Sun. noon-6.

YEARBOOK COVER ART CONTEST!

We are looking for cover art for the new 2010 EPAA yearbook. The winner will receive a prize of $100. Art can be any size, as long as it is in a vertical format. To be considered, drop off original art to the Art Junction office at 500 West Paisano during the week of 3/16/10 through 3/19/10, between 11am-3pm For more info call Susan @ 227-8053

EL PASO SCENES SHOW

The Sunland Art Gallery is asking for entries in their April group show, El Paso Scenes. The show will feature artwork with an El Paso theme: landscapes, still lifes and the people of El Paso. It will be featured in the El Paso Scene and promoted during the Studio Tour the last two weekends in April. The show will run April 2-28 with the opening on Friday, April 9, 5:30-8 pm. The entry fee is $10- $30, depending on the number of pieces entered.

As co sponsor of the show, Randy Limbird will offer an award of $100 and the May cover of the Scene to the piece of art chosen by the general public viewing the show at the gallery. This is a great opportunity for an artist to get their work on the Scene cover!

EL PASO ARTISTS STUDIO TOUR
Add your studio to the tour!

The 2010 Studio Tour will be over two weekends in April. The April 17-18 tour includes studios in the Westside, Upper Valley and Central El Paso (North of I-10). The April 24-25 tour includes studios in the Eastside, Northeast, Mission Valley and Downtown (South of I-10). Hours will be from 10am to 5pm on Saturday and noon to 5pm on Sunday. Sponsored by the Plein-Air Painters of El Paso and the El Paso Scene, entry deadline for artistS is March 8.
