CATHERINE KISTENMACHER SCHOLARSHIP
AWARDS 2009
For over twenty years the El Paso Art Association has awarded scholarships to deserving high school seniors. For many of those years, Catherine Kistenmacher represented EPAA as chairperson of the scholarship committee. After Catherine died in October, 2008, it was decided to establish a permanent scholarship fund in her name as a memorial to her many years of service to the art community in El Paso and for her interest in art education.
At the 55th annual El Paso Student Art Exhibition, which recognizes the work done by art students from many of El Paso's high schools, EPAA awarded scholarships to two local graduating seniors who were judged among the most accomplished young artists in the exhibition. Each student will receive a scholarship upon entering an accredited college or art school next fall. The scholarship awards for 2009 go to Alexandra Karlssen from Coronado High School and to Seraph Luby from Franklin High School. Each will also be given a complimentary student membership in the El Paso Art Association for 2009.
